Later in the evening county dispatched the Duty Officer to investigate an outside fire that was burning after dusk. Chief 54-2 (Kleinfelter) arrived and had county dispatch Engine 54-1 to extinguish the fire. Engine 1 arrived and after the direction of Chief 2 went off road towards the fire that was burning in a field. Engine 1 made it about 30 feet in before it lost traction and sunk in the soft ground. Tanker 54 arrived and luckily a nearby farmer came to the assistance with his tractor and pulled Engine 1 out of its predicament.
