Tonight, as crews were cleaning the station, County dispatched the 54-1 box on Route 283 at the Tollhouse Road exit heading westbound for a report of a brush fire. Captain 54 (Naples) went enroute quickly and county advised that there were numerous calls coming in for smoke in the area. Engine 54-1 went enroute soon after. Captain 54 arrived on scene and found that a truck had lost an drive axle and was pulled off the highway about 300 feet down from where he was. He advised Engine 54-1 to pull ahead of him to search the area for any hot spots. Engine 54-1 crews found the axle and continued up the highway to investigate the truck and advised there was oil all over the engine, which was smoking lightly. Tanker 54 arrived and found a small hot spot and extinquished it. Crews were on scene for about 20 minutes until the box was placed in service by command.
